Daniel Flemming is the General Manager and Co-Owner of King and Queen Hotel Suites. A proud graduate of the local Hotel Management School in 2009, he wasted no time turning his passion into reality, opening New Plymouth’s leading luxury hotel soon after.
When it comes to dining out, Daniel’s favourites are Snug Lounge, Social Kitchen, and Black Sands in Oakura—each offering a unique local flavour he loves to share with guests.
Outside the hotel, Daniel enjoys spending time with his family, often exploring the beauty of Taranaki. You might spot them wandering through Pukekura Park, along the Te Henui Walkway, or up in the magical Pukeiti Gardens Treehouse.
Rodrigo: Front Desk Manager
As Front Desk Manager, Rodrigo brings warmth and energy to the heart of the hotel. Known for his approachable nature and willingness to go the extra mile, he ensures every guest feels genuinely welcomed from the moment they arrive.
When it comes to food and drink, Rodrigo has a few local go-tos. He can never pass up the Yakitori at Snug Lounge, the famous Number 11 pizza from Ms White’s, or a perfectly poured craft brew at Shining Peak.
Away from the desk, Rodrigo makes the most of New Plymouth’s great outdoors. Whether it’s soaking up the coastal views at Back Beach, climbing Paritutu Rock, or exploring the slopes of Taranaki Maunga, he’s always seeking out the region’s natural beauty.
Jess: Assistant Front Desk Manager
Jess is our Assistant Front Desk Manager and is currently completing her degree in Applied Hotel Management at PIHMS. Balancing study and hospitality, she brings both enthusiasm and a sharp eye for detail to the team.
Her top picks for dining around town include sipping cocktails during happy hour at Rice Bar, sharing fries with friends at Rooftop Bar, or grabbing a quick and flavourful snack at Three Sisters Brewery.
When she’s not at the hotel, Jess enjoys unwinding with a walk along New Plymouth’s scenic coastal pathways or exploring the boutiques and shops in the city centre.
Michelle
Michelle is one of the newest members of the King and Queen family, bringing her skills to both Housekeeping and Reception—a true all-rounder who keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes and at the front desk.
When it comes to dining out, Michelle enjoys the vibrant flavours of Snug Lounge, the Italian classics at Portofino, and the famous fishbowl cocktails at Ate Forty One.
Outside of work, she loves making the most of her downtime—whether it’s soaking in the thermal hot pools, taking a relaxing walk along Ōakura Beach, or enjoying a fun game of mini golf in Hillsborough.
Lynda
Lynda is a valued member of our housekeeping team, dedicated to making sure every room is perfectly presented and welcoming for our guests. Her attention to detail ensures a truly comfortable stay.
When dining out, Lynda enjoys the relaxed atmosphere of The Good Home or a friendly meal at Stumble Inn.
